What you need to know about the REAL ID ACT

Have flight plans? Keep reading to learn how the REAL ID Act impacts you.

October 10, 2018, the REAL ID Act comes into effect for states within the Pacific Northwest Regional Council: Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana (Wyoming is already compliant). The Act will restrict domestic air travel for those with identification that is non-compliant. These requirements could impact your personal and professional life, limiting your ability to fly.

WHAT IS THE REAL ID ACT?

  • Enacts the 9/11 Commission’s recommendation that the
Federal Government “set standards for the issuance of sources
of identification, such as driver’s licenses.”
  • Establishes minimum security standards for state-issued driver’s
    licenses and identification cards
  • Prohibits Federal agencies from accepting for official purposes
licenses and identification cards from states that do not meet
    these standards

Beat the rush. Apply for your compliant ID early to avoid the lines, and make sure that you and your family are prepared.
